Gardening education is a year-round opportunity with Boston Natural Areas Network. Community gardeners can take advantage of an intensive eight-week course that covers a wide variety of gardening subjects through its Master Urban Gardener (MUG) program. This course provides instruction in garden design, soil management, pest control, nutrition and much more. Residential gardeners in Boston are now able to receive the same comprehensive information geared toward their unique needs through MUGatHOME, a course that kicked off in the spring of 2009. And, during the school year, despite New England weather, students from elementary through high school learn the science and practical steps of growing plants and vegetables. Students Learning through Urban Gardening (SLUG) is a successful model that is gaining popularity throughout the Boston Public School system. Seed, Sow & Grow is a unique opportunity for community and backyard gardeners to learn innovative gardening techniques with Boston Natural Areas Network staff, special instructors and fellow gardeners.
