Events, Programs, & Meetings

Events

Boston Natural Areas Network achieves its mission to preserve and protect urban green space by encouraging stewardship – bringing the community to various sites for a variety of purposes. Through signature events, such as our Alaskan Dog Sledding, spring and fall Festivals & Perennial Divides, and Great Pumpkin Float, we attract families who then learn and understand the value of various urban parks.

Programs & Activities

Our ongoing programs accomplish the same goal by giving the community a chance to sample canoeing along the Neponset, rock climbing minutes from the heart of the city, and nature walks to enjoy birds and other wildlife, sometimes with a distant backdrop of the Boston skyline. Other diverse programs include a concert series in neighborhood community gardens, beekeeping, a multi-cultural seed exchange, outdoor movies and children’s performances.

Meetings

Finally, serving as the primary liaison between the community and various state departments, organizations and corporations, BNAN encourages neighborhood involvement and commitment to further the cause of securing and caring for precious urban green space. The Friends of the East Boston Greenway Council, Neponset River Greenway Council and Boston Community Garden Council are active groups that partner with BNAN and benefit from its knowledge, expertise and resources.
