Boston Natural Areas Network strives to maintain an up-to-date list of nearly 200 active community and school gardens in Boston and the surrounding communities. Please let us know of missing gardens or incorrect information.

Would you like to search for a garden close to your home? Here's how to search by address.

1) Click to open the Boston Community Garden Map in a new tab.

2) Type your address into the Google Maps search bar and hit Enter.

3. On the bottom left hand side of the window, click the plus sign next to Boston's Community Gardens. Then click in the check box next to Boston’s Community Gardens. See below:

4) Now you can see which gardens are near you. Once you find a garden you are interested in see below for the next step to obtain a plot!

Another way to find a community garden is to scroll through the list below. Gardens are listed by neighborhood, addresses are included with a link to mapquest to show their location. Once you find a garden you are intersted in see below for the next step to obtain a plot.

Once you find a garden you are interested in, contact BNAN at info@bostonnatural.org or call 617-542-7696 and garden staff will give you the name and contact information for the garden coordinator. The garden coordinators, who are volunteers, will give you information on obtaining a plot, fees, rules, clean-up days, special events in the garden, and more. If you find that a garden has a waiting list for individual plots, you may want to volunteer to help maintain communal areas and help at garden clean-ups.

If you are unable to find a plot for this season or do not have the time to commit to a plot and you still want to get your hands dirty you may want to join BNAN for one of the volunteer gardening opportunities along the Greenways. Volunteer opportunities are listed here on the website. You may also sign up for BNAN's eNEWS and get free bimonthly notices of BNAN's programs and events, including volunteer opportunities.

Discover Boston’s
South End and Lower Roxbury Community Gardens

In two of Boston’s most densely populated neighborhoods 16 community gardens and pocket parks serve more than 30,000 diverse residents representing a broad range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. These green spaces are sources of neighborhood pride, turning neighbors into friends and creating bonds that are difficult to establish in cities. These community gardens and parks reflect the ethnic, linguistic, and economic diversity of the neighborhoods.
