Mayoral Conversation on Parks and Open Space

To follow-up on the success of the August 16 mayoral forum on parks and open space, BNAN and Boston Parks Advocates are hosting mayoral finalists, John Connolly and Marty Walsh for a morning conversation on parks. Each candidate will speak separately about their vision for parks and open space as well as answer questions. Marty Walsh will speak at 10:00 a.m. and John Connolly will follow at 11:00 a.m. Afterwords, all are invited to plant daffodils outdoors. It will be a great park day!

In this second session of Perennial Garden Basics, attendees will learn how and when to plant bulbs to provide color and interest to the spring garden. Lots of enthusiastic volunteers are needed to pull off this well-loved community event! A great opportunity for youth groups looking for fun community service. Join this Neponset family tradition! Bring your hollow carved jack-o-lanterns and watch them float in Davenport Creek. Halloween costumes encouraged! Pumpkins can be no larger than 8 inches, or they won’t float. At the end of the event, pumpkins are collected for compost and used in Boston's gardens. No registration necessary.
