Address: 40 Hallet St, Dorchester Status: Protected Condition: Altered
Physical Description:
Hallet Street Brook Urban Wild abuts the Neponset River Greenway just northwest of the overpass of the Southeast Expressway. This wild has two distinct pieces. The first piece includes the banks and streambed of Davenport Creek as it exits a culvert at Hallet Street and flows south to join the Neponset River. Davenport Creek is greatly impacted by detrimental uses of the surrounding properties. Some weedy vegetation grows along the engineered banks of the creek. The second piece of Hallet Street Brook Urban Wild sandwiches the Neponset River Greenway as it moves west from beneath the expressway. This portion is cultivated and seasonally maintained by DCR. Areas of lawn flank the Greenway with planted beds and natural stands of shrubs and small trees beyond. A population of Winged Sumac grows to the northwest of the paved trail.
