Physical Description:
Bakalar Urban Wild is a property of remnant hardwood forest that lays adjacent to Allandale Woods to the south of Allandale Road. What remains of the wild forms a ring of greenspace around a central complex of condominiums. Two ponds sit to the south of the property supporting healthy wetland vegetation along their banks. There is no physical boundary between the protected portion of the property and Allandale Woods to the south. The forest includes an impressive canopy of sugar maple, American beech and white oak with beaked hazel, maple leaf viburnum, and spicebush as an understory.
